October Meeting
IT IS TIME! Sign up for Wusfest at the meeting. We are ready, and time to get organized. Eberhart has everything in order, just need people. Look forward to having 10 Days of Wurst Celebration.
The Comal Parade was executed excellently. Hats off to Jake Dikkeboom for organizing and executing the fantastic event. Volunteers abound, generators ran well, Warsteiner was ice cold and 3rd Generation rocked (if I do say so myself). 1st Place again was awarded to our float and it just seems to kick off the Fall Season. Thanks to all for coming out. Thanks to Eberhart and Don Knippa for decorating and pulling the float, Ron Evans for use of his gnerators and decorating, the Moltzs, Bakers, Irwins, Helgard, and any I forgot to name. I really appreciate all who came. I want to thank Rudy Seidel for use of his trailer and building to store the trailer. Also, kudos to Richard Ordorfer who represeneted Streuben Society and carried the banner the distance. Weather cooperated and was great. Thanks again.
For all new comers, our October meeting will be held at the Elks Club, located on Seguin St. across from the Chamber of Commerce/Civic Center. The meeting room will open at 6:00 PM for some friendly refreshments and fellowship. The meeting will start at 7:00.
See you Tuesday evening. Again, thanks to Tom for this newsletter, and all the Executive Board for their commitment and hard work. Chris

Spaßzeit für alle!
(Fun Time for All!)
At our September meeting of the German American Society, we all had a grand time singing our favorite German folksongs. Pearly Sowell did a wonderful job of playing the accordion and adding her own personal stories to make the evening even more fun. It was great to see people who said they knew no German sitting and trying to follow the song sheets and sing along. A good activity to stretch the brain!

In October, it looks like more fun awaits us. We will be having a movie night---a surprise for you! Instead of having popcorn with our movie, we will be having pizza. So come hungry and join us for a double treat!

Wurstfest
Hallo everyone! Wurstfest is coming at us fast and I would like for everyone to think about what they can do to help. As usual we need every society member to help sell our wares and we need team leaders. At the October meeting we will have a signup sheet for work shifts. In the second half of October we will clean the booth, dust, and vacuum the carpet. Otherwise the booth looks good - we do not have to paint. After we get it checked by the fire department, we will have a move-in day and stock the place. We have merchandise which will make us proud to be Germans and we hope to have a great year. Let’s try to top last years sales and set a new record. Our buyers have done a great job getting new things and, of course, our ever popular pins look really great this year. We have some pins from previous years and they have fast become a collector's item. A great big THANK YOU to our buyers who also stored the items in their homes for us. The 2011 pins will be at the October meeting for our members to buy at a very special price. We need to replenish our bank account so bring you money, checkbooks, Rubles, Euros, and Swiss Francs. No Greek money please, since they use Euros also.......Lets make this a wonderful Wurstfest for all of us and the people who support us by purchasing our goodies. Remember 10 Days salute to sausage and beer! Prost und Hoch die Tassen! Eberhart.

Ein Schneller Blick
A Quick Look
At our September Meeting, while we were enjoying the Gesellschaft of the evening, Herbert Strunk captured our attention with his compelling story of his younger life and emigration from post-war Germany to the United States and Texas.

Two women argue whether life begins with fertilization of the egg or the birth, when Grandma comes over. She stops for a moment and then says:
"All rubbish! When the children have left home and the old man is under the ground, then life begins!
