November Meeting

Fall is in the air, weather is cooling off, leaves turning color, and a little rain maybe? Fall brings Wurstfest, Wassailfest, Fredericksburg, Beethovens in San Antonio, Oktoberfest, and our Christmas Party.   Hmm, great eatin’ and how about that loooong desert table. I think we need to have an Executive Order to let GAS Pres taste those desserts to pick a winner!

We are looking real good for workers at Wurstfest, and Eberhart is excited to break all sales records this year.   Let’s help him do it….and don’t forget that the day of sales that exceeds last year by the largest percentage wins the wine!

Thanks to Mary Irwin and Jake Dikkeboom for their movie on Germany.   Looking forward to “Two Rivers Brass” and some relaxing music.   Bring some dance shoes and kick it up for a night!

Nominations are coming up.   We will be looking to fill a slate of new officers for 2012. Keep your thoughts on this to pick our new leader.   This has been a good year thus far.

For all new comers, our November meeting will be held at the Elks Club, located on Seguin St., across from the Chamber of Commerce/Civic Center. The meeting room will open at 6:00 PM for some friendly refreshments and fellowship. The meeting will start at 7:00.

See you Tuesday evening. Again, thanks to Tom for this newsletter, and all the Executive Board for their commitment and hard work. Appreciate your hard work.     Chris

Spaßzeit für alle!

(Fun Time for All!)

Making a trip to Heidelburg isn't possible for all of us, but the next best thing was being able to watch the movie on Heidelburg that was shown at our last German American meeting.  Thanks to Jake and Eva Dikkeboom for letting us borrow it.  There was a lot going on while the movie was shown, but many people were really trying to watch, and seemed to be enjoying it.

At our next meeting, you definitely do not want to miss our upcoming entertainment.  We will be treated to a brass quintet, "The Two Rivers Brass," who will be making their world debut for us that evening.  The quintet is made up of members of the Comal Community Band who will be playing a variety of music.   Selections will include "I Got Rhythm," "Lilli Marlene," "Edelweiss," "What a Wonderful World," "Ghost Riders in the Sky," "Fuer Elise," and other well-known tunes.  So be sure you're there---it will be a treat!

A woman has a lover. One day the husband comes home early. The woman hides the lover in the closet.
The husband comes into the room. The woman is half naked on the rumpled bed and a cigar on the nightstand. The husband asks her, “Where does the cigar come from?”
No answer. The husband asks again, “Where does the cigar come from?”
No answer. The husband asks again, “I ask you again once more! Where does the cigar come from?”
Suddenly someone calls from the closet, “From Havana, you idiot!”

Die vier Elemente

"Nenne mir die vier Elemente ;"verlangt der Lehrer von Annemarie.
Das Mädchen zählt auf :"Erde ,Wasser ,Feuer ,Bier :"
"Bier? Wieso Bier?",will der Lehrer wissen. "Immer wenn mein Vater ein Bier trinkt, sagt meine Mami :Jetzt ist er schon wieder in seinem Element."

The four elements
„Name for me the four elements”, asked the teacher of Annemarie.
The girl listed, “Earth, Water, Fire, Bier.”
“Beer? Why Beer?” the teacher wants to know.
“Always when my father drinks a Beer, my mother says now he is again in his element!”
