May Meeting
Thank you, Mary Irwin. for your wonderful, tireless work with the beautiful Edelweiss Kinderchor von New Braunfels. The group brings such joy and pleasure to our group and all those who hear them. I speak for our entire group when we say that you and it is a pleasure to support such a wonderful endeavor.
May brings MaiFest Picnic (May 3rd) and Wein-Saenger Fest (May 7th). I look forward to seeing everyone at the Picnic with great eating and drinks from Micky Schwab. You may want to bring a chair as well. As always, we will have awesome music by none other that the fabulous duo of Robert and Kevin from the Sauerkrauts. Afterwards, we may all want to do a “Regen Tanz” while we are there! If not a member, bring $5 for the guest fee to help cover costs. Also take this chance to renew your membership if not done so already.
Regarding renewing membership....please help our Secretary and Treasurer by renewing your membership fees and updating your personal information. Several of you have not renewed for 2011, and we desperately need to update the records. We want to save on the postage for mailing newsletters to those who may not intend to renew, so please let us know. If you intend to renew, please let a Board Member know your intentions as we update our Membership Roster, so your name will be included in there.
For all new comers, our May meeting will be held at Landa Park, Pavilions #5 & 6. If you have a personal preference for beer, bring it with you iced down in your cooler. It is always good to see everyone here. Plan on being there at 6:00 pm for some friendly refreshments and fellowship.
Wein-Saengerfest is planned for Saturday May 7th downtown New Braunfels. Bill and Dianne Moltz have planned on brats, pork chops and maybe some strudel if we are all lucky. Help is still needed on cooking and serving.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! At the time of this newsletter, we continue to NOT HAVE a volunteer to help coordinate the 4th of July Parade and the Comal County Fair Parade. These are two of our very fun events, and we need someone to supply this year’s theme and assist with the coordination of the band, decorating and ride the float. We have many volunteers to help with all the events, just need someone to sign the dotted line as Event Chair.
See you Tuesday evening. And thanks to all who make this club fantastic. It is a pleasure working with everyone. I appreciate your hard work. Chris

The BBQ meal is free for members and will cost $5.00 for each guest. Members are asked to bring side dishes, such as salads, vegetables, and desserts. Please bring enough to serve 8-10 people. If your last name begins with a letter ‘A’ through ‘K’, bring a salad or a vegetable; ‘L’ through ‘Z’, bring a dessert.
This year, we will provide only tea and water to drink. If you wish to have beer, wine or soft drinks, please bring your own.
If you'd like to help with set up, call Barry Irwin at 620-0369. If you'd like to help decorate, contact Lou Streitenberger or Sylvia Mayer.

Wein & Sängerfest
On May 7 the Wein & Sägerfest will be held in downtown New Braunfels and our club will sponsor a food booth serving pork loins, bratwurst, sauerkraut, and strudel. This is a big undertaking and many workers will be needed for this daylong adventure. Bill and Diane Moltz are asking members to sign up to help at the May meeting when a sign up sheet will be passed around. This event requires a lot of work, but it is a fun filled occasion with many activities going on at all times, so please lend a hand.

Spaßzeit für alle!
(Fun Time for All!)
At our April meeting, we enjoyed the "Edelweiss Kinderchor von New Braunfels." The current group was re-organized six years ago, and averages about 20 singers each year. Children range in ages 5-16, with one special 3 year old who always manages to draw smiles from the audience.
They sang traditional German folksongs that evoked pleasant memories from our childhood.

At our annual May picnic in the park, we will have our annual performance by our favorite duo, Kevin Hatcher and Robert Atwood. These familiar faces will play all of your favorite German songs, and then some. They always do a great job and are willing to accommodate your requests. Come and sing along and join in the fun.

Children’s German Summer Camp
Once again our club will sponsor a children's German language summer camp that will continue for two weeks at the CONSERVATION PLAZA in Forke's Store. Our camp will begin on June 13 and end on June 24. The class for beginners will be from 9:00-12:00 and the class for children with some knowledge of German will be from 1:00-4:00. This camp has been very successful in the past with classes filling up rather quickly, so if you have children or grandchildren who are interested, please call 660 0437 or 620 0369 soon for more information.
