June Meeting

Word has it that the Maifest Picnic was well attended and all fed fat and full. Had some left over meat which was sold to members. Thank you to all who attended.   A special thank you Robert Atwood and Kevin Hatcher for their music, which is always apprecaited and loved. A HUGE thanks to all those who setup and took down as well.   Thank you.

The Wein-Saengerfest was great fun as usual.   Great fellowship with grilling chops & brats, beer for taste, strudel and beautiful women.   In spite of the fun, we manged to make a few deutschmarks while we were at it.   Huge thanks to Bill and Dianne for all their dedication and hard work. We all appreciate your committmnt.

Mr. Odorfer suggested that a donation be given to the Steuben Society of America. It was agreed by all so $100 was given, to be presented at the National meeting in Missouri.

Next month, we will hold the 4th of July Parade. Big thanks to Eberhart Moese to head this up, assisted by Richard Odorfer.   For those who are available to help with the decorating and present in the parade, more info coming soon.

We continue to update our current membership roster. I really appreciate everyone coming forward to pay their dues and update info. This is so important for us to keep our records updated, and helps us with contacting all our members with upcoming events.

We are all looking forward to our June meeting.   For all new comers, our June meeting will be held at the Elks Club, located on Seguin St. across from the Chamber of Commerce/Civic Center. The meeting room will open at 6:00 PM for some friendly refreshments and fellowship. The meeting will start at 7:00. Rumor has it that money is to be made at a Bingo night.

See you Tuesday evening. Again, thanks to Tom for this newsletter, and all the Executive Board for their commitment and hard work.  Appreciate your hard work.     Chris

Spaßzeit für alle!

(Fun Time for All!)

Even though the weather threw us a curve at last month's picnic, everyone who made their way over to the Elk's Lodge seemed to have a great time.  The food was terrific!  Thanks go to Barry Irwin for all the planning and preparations he did to make this event happen.  Once again, Kevin and Robert did a great job playing our favorite songs for singing and dancing.

At next month's meeting, we will have a presentation by Angela Deleon from the Comal County Emergency Preparedness Center.  She will be talking to us about what we can do in emergency situations in our area.  Afterward, we will play card bingo, so plan on staying around and being a winner!

Children’s German Summer Camp
Once again our club will sponsor a children's German language summer camp that will continue for two weeks at the CONSERVATION PLAZA in Forke's Store.  Our camp will begin on June 13 and end on June 24.  The class for beginners will be from 9:00-12:00 and the class for children with some knowledge of German will be from 1:00-4:00.  This camp has been very successful in the past with classes filling up rather quickly, so if you have children or grandchildren who are interested, please call 660 0437 or 620 0369 soon for more information.

Oh…a smoke fax from my wife!
If I don’t come home to eat immediately,
it gets cold!

Der Herr im Restaurant:
"Bringen Sie mir Tafelspitz mit Kartoffelklößen."
Ober: "Ist nicht mehr da."
"Dann bringen Sie mir eben Würstchen mit Kartoffelsalat."
Ober: "Ist nicht mehr da."
"Donnerwetter! Dann bringen Sie mir meinen Mantel, Hut und Schirm."
Ober: "Ist nicht mehr da."

The man in the restaurant:

Two men are walking in the desert on the road, when suddenly faced with a lion.
Then one man up in his backpack, pulls out a pair of sneakers and begins to attract them.
Says the other man to him: "Are you naive do you really think you could because of sneakers to run faster than the lion?"
The other replies, "I must run faster than you just so ..."

The optimist errs as often as the Pessimist.
However he has much more fun in doing so.
